These maps are great for showing two things about LGBTI rights: (1) Simple East/West North/South distinctions don't do justice to the existing variation. (2) Perceptions on which countries are the most progressive are often outdated - see e.g. the Netherlands & the UK

This really is crucial - I feel there is a growing belief, encouraged by some Con MPs and parts of the right wing press - that 'they' (foreign students) are taking 'our kids places'. This is not just wrong, it is upside down - 'they' are *funding* 'our kids' places.

Earlier today Israeli settlers raided Gaza aid trucks at the Tarkumiya checkpoint in the occupied West Bank unloading goods, tearing them apart: “Listen there are goods here you’re welcome to come and take, it’s never ending (…) this driver thought he could bring rice into Gaza”

Last night, around 8:50pm, the Oxford encampment was attacked by six men who arrived in a taxi.

They ripped down banners, screamed at students and made threats.

Protesters did not engage and de-escalators moved local community members away from the attackers.
