Last week, I was honoured to join Hon. Chipoka Mulenga, Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry of Zambia for a Breakfast Meeting with the private sector to discuss the implementation of the AfCFTA Agreement, the AfCFTA Protocol on Digital Trade, & the Guided Trade Initiative.

One of the biggest problems on the continent. The Africa Union said AfCFTA would cater for this and we are still here with no major development or agreement.

'The AfCFTA agreement is a document Africans can be proud of.. it has made room to accommodate specific development-oriented goals like the women & youth protocol,” said H.E Wamkele Mene, at the 2-day International Trade & Innovation Conference hosted by the UPSA LAW SCHOOL & GIZ.

This morning in Niamey, Niger, I had the honour of signing the agreement establishing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), on behalf of Nigeria. I wish to assure you that Nigeria shall sustain its strong leadership role in Africa, in the implementation of the AfCFTA.

In 2023, #Cameroon 's export earnings to African countries were only 12.7%, while imports of #goods from the continent were less than 10% of the total. This low %age of transactions with #African countries underlines the importance of the #AfCFTA in promoting intra-African #trade .
