This ball was rolled from ash in the leftover white mud in the bowl from the double replacement with diatoms reaction to form waterglass in 1 step.

Artificial diatoms.
They are symmetric attractors of 𝑫ₙ equivariant maps ℂ→ℂ. 𝑫ₙ is the group of symmetries of a regular polygon.
The generic map is shown in the title of the figure.

Artificial diatoms emerge from the sea of mathematics, stunning us with their intricacy and symmetries.

The guiding equation is shown at top. You are an explorer of an infinite ocean.

Got the time to draw these diatoms we saw during our experiment. 😻

Taking a forked turn in the road of theory and using the double replacement reaction to form NaOH with diatoms in a boil to make waterglass all in one process. A plaster smelling white paste was the result. Split between garden Lime & Ash.

Stoichiometric weights in grams for double replacement reaction.
Diatoms, garden lime(dolomite), boiled in 70mL water.
123grams ash.
extra 8mL added until bulk began to stick to itself & release hidden waters.

Todays rock makin' samples, left outside to see if they sweat.
Double replacement reaction using , lime, & diatoms for one step hot liquid waterglass production & mixing while still hot.
Dry mixing until the point of hydrate release.🗿

I will be giving a short talk (virtual, unfortunately...I would love to be in Foz do Iguaçu) on diatomology in South America at the SIL meeting in Brazil next week! SIL Limnology also a nice opportunity to expand the YoungISDR (insta @youngisdr, bsky Young ISDR) and the Diatomólogos Hispanohablantes International Society for Diatom Research

Growing Diatom Algae using the nutrients in Fertilizer runoff & treated Wastewater is a good solution to grow fish.

Diatoms are the best natural food for fish.

Artistic microscope slides produced in the Victorian era (1840~1900) by arranging hundreds of tiny diatoms into intricate patterns. Collecting and arranging Diatoms and algae into beautiful patterns.

It was a hobby for those who could afford a telescope.

And for those people who leap to uninformed judgment, I also post about protecting the non-charismatic like soil bacteria and diatoms with equal concern.

Sumatran orangutans are critically endangered and even protected forest is under threat:

Not long now before the European Diatom Meeting 2024!
➡️ Yes, I'm currently having a break from research and working in the civil service
➡️Yes, I have taken annual leave to go and talk about diatoms!
