The massive stone fort known as the Grainan of Aileach, Co. Donegal, likely dates 8-9th cent AD and was the seat of Cenél nEógain. Surrounding it are a series of enclosures, including one 2.6ha hillfort with 3 closely spaced earthworks that could be Bronze Age #HillfortsWednesday

I was wondering whether the Caersws I pre 75AD fort, which is described as being preserved as cropmarks only, might show up some earthworks using the new 1m lidar - and it does with a clear rectangular plan🙂
