This is why we dislike IPPs. They're enjoying free money and handsome returns at the expense of our growth. We're drowning in debt and high capacity payments due to shortsighted energy policies of the past three decades.

Yet, Pakistanis pay over 60 rs per unit because Nawaz Sharif signed f***d up IPP contracts and now we've to pay billions to IPPs in capacity payments.

I don’t see a sustainable resolution of the electricity crisis without a take over of the equity of the IPPs OR scrapping of the take or pay agreements under which govt is forced to pay capacity payments. At a minimum guaranteed returns must be reduced. The IPP regime is absurd.
