The Bradford Pals paid a very heavy price on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, July 1st 1916, suffering approximately 80% casualties either, killed, wounded or missing in action. Eight of those killed in action on that day are commemorated at Undercliffe. #bradford2025

Following an architects plan from the 1980s we are recreating a seating area close to where the old chapels were. The benches have been donated by Rawdon Crematorium, we will be refurb them soon. A new raised flower bed and planting area will provide colour and attract wildlife.

Great to meet the team from Bradford Archaeology and Forensics at Undercliffe today. Surveying the whole cemetery by drones. The footage will be pieced together and the resultant films will be made available to the Cemetery to share. A tremendous effort. Watch this space!
