Another 1 of 7 in all, supply & fit reclaimed Victorian 4 panel doors for a 19th century village home.
Replacing the 60's replacements and reinstating some period charm.
Client's quote: 'Transforming the space'. That'll do me!
Hope they find somewhere else for the rubbish! 😬

The Door Restorer Darren McLean Maybe that’s another reason why Brunelleschi walked off the job and the Duomo was never finished . They left the scaffolding slots and exposed brick !

I'm 'into' old buildings.
My workshop, probably late Victorian, was purpose built as a bakehouse.
The property next door, currently a general store corner shop, used to be the baker's shop.
Hard work, but probably a profitable business in its residential setting.

Save Station Street, Birmingham Glenbrook Well they claim they're 'doing the right thing' for sustainability and for the communities in the places they make!
Wonder if Glenbrook will last 115 years? πŸ€”

The Door Restorer That's an amazing job. It's sad that we imprisoned so many beautiful doors. My Dad put hardboard over all the lovely panelled doors in our old flat back in the 60's. Fashion is a strange thing πŸ˜•

The Door Restorer 100% sure it will be due to trespass or break ins etc but it's the symbolism of our city's culture and heritage being boarded up and closed off from its residents. Again.

It doesn't surprise me that these doors were dumped in a skip, but it saddens me.
Bravo πŸ‘ to the rescuer, and admiration to the craftspeople rich welsh for their talent and skill.

David Gregory Loads of them in Dover.
A kind of signature detail of local builders & (I think) iron founders, the Stiff's!
Herbert and Philip, the main men.
Yep, iron lintels by a couple of Stiffs!

The Door Restorer Beautiful, even humble utilitarian buildings have an elegance and eye for detail that modern buildings don't even try to create.
