This is a beautiful well crafted first issue - although I don’t remember the specifics of the last volume, I remember it being pretty damn good - this new Ain’t No Grave #1 is pretty damn great by skottie young Jorge Corona -Big Sugar-

Artists, PLEASE think about lettering when you're laying out your pages. Left to right, top to bottom. Most artists plan negative space (even if they're not 100% accurate) and that makes for a better reading experience. The others just create confusion for letterer AND reader.

The first artist I saw do this (much to my joy and relief) was Dan Jurgens back when I was a Batman editor and we worked on this NO MAN'S LAND arc. He put placements on the penciled pages. You can see he conceived it for narrative leading the eye throughout the page.

Lovely day. I'm lettering a series with androids that look and sound like real people, so their dialogue typically looks just like a human. In this issue, one of the droids malfunctions and I have to reflect that in their voice...hence the crazy tail/wavy dialogue.

In other news, I am weirdly obsessed with these cuddly crocheted Baphomet dolls on Etsy. I may need one for the studio. He's just so cute...and evil...and CUTE!
