Can someone explain to me why a while ago there was a discussion about Velociraptor vs Deinonychus around here? Like, didn't we already know that the JP Raptors are actually wrongly based on Deinonychus and that the franchise differentiates the two genera anyway? What gives?

So in biology news today we have:

- Bonobos are more aggressive than people think
- Deinonychus and Dromaeosaurus were relatively hard biters, while Halszkaraptor was a speedy biter

Cool study, except you can ignore the Deinonychus results, as unfortunately they used one of the fanciful, sculpted skull 'casts' as the basis for the analysis.

Also just as expected, Deinonychus had a skull built for large prey, consistent with previous evidence. Their proposal that species with skulls highly resistant to bite force were more reliant on scavenging surprises me, though.
