Lunchtime wander and things are definitely growing. The fire borders are still very reliant on the Euphorbias but there is a first Peony flower in there - Sunny Girl - a beautiful, soft creamy yellow with plenty more buds to come.

Iloilo City plants donated giant badyang plants (elephant ears) along Circumferential Road 1 (President Corazon C. Aquino Avenue🎗)

Your tita’s peony euphorbias and your tito’s tiny bromeliads cannot even.

While there are not many types of euphorbias growing naturally here in Maryland, they make up a sizeable number of plants in many potted succulent collections. Here's a beautiful large Euphorbia esculenta, a medusa type euphorbia at one of our local C&S Society plant shows.

Looking forward to euphorbias on this evening. If I had to choose just one euphorbia... I'd choose these four... and a few others.

Jakkalskos

Hydnora africana is a holoparasitic plant (not fungus). It produces no chlorophyll & is entirely dependent on a host plant. In place of roots it feeds off of its host via a special structure called a haustorium. This species parasitises on Euphorbias.

This is a straight line over a big hill from my pad to the 99 cent store in silverlake. I’m a succulent freak and planted well 100 years ago in these part, there’s a few specimen paddle cactus elders and towering euphorbias. Here are the agave attenuata in bloom

Euphorbias are always good value for money and not just boring green things as one customer recently told me 🤷‍♂️

Late spring/early summer view, my garden. The Euphorbias have another two or three weeks in them (not bad - they’ve been flowering since February!) and then the fading flower stalks will be removed, by which time the taller perennials will have grown up around.

I haven't posted a photo of a succulent Euphorbia for quite some time; so here is a nice show plant of Euphorbia esculenta, one of the medusa type euphorbias. Native to South Africa. An impressive plant when it gets big. Tough to transport to and from a plant show. 😵‍💫
