I highly recommend grabbing these Everglades wildlife and birds pamphlets at the Ernest Coe Visitor Center when you visit Everglades National Park. It'll make your visit THAT much more fun!

Burmese pythons are considered invasive in the Florida Everglades: they prey upon a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles even alligators of considerable size.

Recently, a 5-ft alligator was found in the stomach of an 18-ft python by national park workers.

We’ve made more progress on restoration efforts than at any time in Florida history.

Technically just before the Cottonmouth I actually got to finally see Swallowtail Kites roosting. This was my 1st time ever seeing them land/roost in my years of observing this species.
Just after the Cottonmouth we also saw a Bald Eagle, the 1st one I've seen in the Everglades.
