THE X FLARE AFFECTED THE EARTH WITH A STRONG RADIO BLACKOUT: The effect was limited, of course to the day-lit side of the Earth so was experienced by eastern Asia, Indonesia, Japan and Australia.

The Sun emitted a strong solar flare on May 2, peaking at 10:22pm ET. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory captured an image of the event, which was classified as X1.6. go.nasa.gov/4dmxiTU

X FLARE! Sunspot region AR3663 just produced an X1.7 flare, the 11th largest flare so far this cycle. It was an impulsive flare lasting a total of about 25 minutes and peaking at 02:22 U.T. This is the 30th X flare so far during SC25, compared to just 19 at the same stage in SC24

⚠️ ALERT: A major solar flare has occurred on the Sun. The X1.6-class flare was Earth-directed. There is a high likelihood that the eruption may have propelled a CME towards Earth, potentially causing significant effects.

LOOKS LIKE A CME IS HEADING OUR WAY! The NOAA ENIL model show the CME from this morning's X flare is heading for us and will hit in the next day or two. Fortunately, it may not be a direct hit. The green dot is Earth.

Solar Flare yay

A strong X1.6 flare has been emitted from the sunspot AR3663 and its associated CME heading towards the northeast.

A fairly faint, northerly directed CME was produced by the X1.6 solar flare early Friday morning. It appears to be heading well off the Sun-Earth line and I do not expected any major impacts from this event. SolarHam.com

A strong X-ray flare event reaching the X1.6 level from Region 3663 was observed at 03/0222 UTC.

Filament eruptions were observed near sunspot AR3661, and an M4.5 flare occurred in AR3663.
