Once you take the idea that men can identify as women seriously, you inevitably end up with rapists in women's jails. And then you end up with rapes in women's jails. This is a massive human-rights abuse

I was the manager here for 3-4 years. It's a lovely community-led enterprise, run by local volunteers and uses its profits to invest in the high street. It was shortlisted for the BBC Food Awards when I was there.

Didn't think the thing which would end it would be local council.

This looks like a depressing indictment of a local authority totally failing to support a social enterprise and brilliant piece of the community. I'd love to hear their side from councillors and leaders.

We've received sad news today that Levenshulme Market has decided to close (for now). We've requested a report from council staff on recent negotiations.

Hopefully we'll quickly find a solution that works and see the market up and running again.

People in Levenshulme need to question our local politicians as to why they weren't involved in the consultation process with the market before now. That they've only commented after social media reports shows an unsettling disconnect with an area they're supposed to represent...

More than a pity. It would be a total failure of civic leaders in Levenshulme to support the tireless work of a lynchpin regeneration/cultural spot up to this point built from the ground up by a whole community.
It should be built upon yearly not diluted/exhausted as currently.
