At Staithes last Monday, the tide was out, and well I just love having a look at what’s on the rocks or in the pools. Periwinkles, limpets, seedling barnacles, Pepper Dulce, Coral weed and Serrated rack and more. Exploring the shoreline.

Day 2 and we've cleared the overburden. Beneath that was a layer of sand replete with limpets, then more sand. A T shaped feature of stone and clay continues to emerge but we are not certain how substantial it will prove to be. And the sun came out!

A unique fish to be found in Irish waters is the cuckoo wrasse. They live near rocks and like to eat mussels, limpets, shellfish and other small fish.

Showed this to my coastal/Sub-Tropical Mexican cousin and uncle and they said this challenge would be too easy for them and got excited when he started harvesting Limpets 😭😭😭

Freshwater limpets are so tiny and cute. I was blessed to finally find some after digging through the dead leaves in my grandpa's pond.

This morning for #INNSweek our mollusc curator was talking about invasive oysters and slippers limpets

Finishing #InvasiveSpeciesWeek with the slipper limpet. Slipper limpets form a stack with the largest limpet at the bottom being female and the ones above being male, when the female dies the largest male will change into a female! Share sightings on iNaturalist or via DASSH

In Chapel le Dale there water comes up from the limestone and sinks away in holes further up. The water contained these #river #mayfly , some sort of black coloured river limpets. I can't place the large grains glued to rocks made out of sand grains in the last photo.
