Officials from NWS in Tulsa are saying this is the worst event for trees since the ice storm of 2007. Judging from the pictures and videos documenting the damage and widespread power outages, I believe it. My daughters have already checked in and they are without power but ok.
Our family was warned about severe weather last night in a rural area without power (Grand Lake) by the OETA WARN system. Its puzzling why $8.1million to replace transmitters for the WARN network to protect Oklahomans was vetoed. #Oklahoma kfor.com/news/local/rur…
And since the sycamore tree has seemingly crushed my neighbor’s truck… maybe he’ll cut it like I’ve been asking him to, since it was struck by lightning several years ago! 🙄🙄 Soft wood + lightning = havoc for years. #okwx
But never underestimate the daughter of a homebuilder who also remodels houses!! 💪🏽😅 Had a drop cloth on hand so I put some elbow grease into dislodging a branch, covering the back & closing the doors on the drop cloth. 😅 Just another day of being single and fabulous. 😂 #OkWx
I concur. The biggest difference seems to be instead of branches breaking off or trees splitting, there seem to be COUNTLESS huge trees uprooted all over the place. The great ice storms of 2007-08 didn’t have uprooted trees like this one at my rental property. 😳😳
