This male Soprano Pipistrelle Bat was found indoors today & dropped off with me to look after. Hopefully he’ll not be in care long & be released quickly. However that won’t be happening until current stormy weather has passed over.
He knew exactly what to do with a mealworm!

The Kuhl's pipistrelle (Pipistrellus kuhlii) is a species that's been expanding it's range northwards due to #ClimateChange !🤔

A typically Mediterranean species, they are pretty adaptable, with a roost of these animals having been found in a Bonelli's eagle nest! 🦅🦇

Whilst unpacking my car last night I saw this Pipistrelle hunting above the drive.

Platax pipistrelle is an amazingly beautiful sea fish that lives in the western part of the Pacific Ocean.

I love being buzzed by the neighborhood Pipistrelle bars out on their evening rounds. Really hope that out garden provides rich pickings, with moth friendly planting and the lawn left long and flowery 🦇 🌸

Our final talk today is on the NNBG Nathusius' pipistrelle work. Maternity roosts are usually found in fairly ordinary buildings! Many of the maternity roosts are mixed species making them hard to count.

In our garden both Holly Blue and Small Tortoiseshell graced our Forget-Me-Nots here in a sunny and blustery Colchester. Both FFY. Plus a nocturnal Hedgehog on camera trap. And sun bathing Slow Worm. And a presumed Pipistrelle sp emerging from our broken porch tiles in eve.
