This is a horrible, horrible mistake. They are trying to cut the 3 highest ridership stations in the system while building these dinosaurs. Tragic transit malpractice.

This is major bus news!! The Florida Ave bus corridor is the highest ridership corridor that isn't served in some aspect by Metro rail.

It connects multiple high density neighborhoods, healthcare facilities, job centers, and amenities.

City council cited low ridership as a reason to once again delay DC Streetcar expansion, but ridership is low because the system isn’t built out!

Imagine if we had taken the same approach with @WMATA after the first small segment opened in 1976! We never would have finished it!

It's been promised for years, but the proposed 2.2-mile eastward extension of the D.C. Streetcar to the Benning Road Metro Station is facing delays after the D.C. Council made changes to the city budget. Advocates for the new line are frustrated: dcist.com/story/23/06/08…

This chart shows how the main transit agencies in the Bay Area were funded before the pandemic.

Agencies that got most of their funding from fares like BART are struggling the most right now because ridership isn't fully back yet.

Weekday & commute ridership is below pre-pandemic levels. However, increases in weekend and leisure transit trips, including tourism, more than make up for the declines in commuting. People are taking more leisure trips - which makes sense (people want to get out of their homes!)

Here’s what was supposed the be built vs what’s actually been built. No wonder ridership is low - it doesn’t go anywhere useful!

DC streetcar is only a failure because Council of DC lacks the will to execute the plan. Thank god we didn’t make the same mistake with DC Metro!

Waited over 25 minutes for buses and subways during one trip today. In that time, I could have easily driven or cycled to my destination

Service cuts will kill transit ridership

Chicago: legally all stores are required to accommodate shoppers who bring 4,000lbs mobile living rooms everywhere they go.

Also Chicago: why is ⁦cta⁩ ridership so low?

Very happy that ANC 1B passed a resolution this month asking that DDOT DC include bus lane options in their design for the Florida Ave bus priority project. This corridor simultaneously has some of the slowest bus speeds while being one of the highest ridership corridors in DC.

9. Free transit was not part of the recovery of ridership.
10.  The Swiss plan their freight and passenger rail together. 10/10

Swiss officials reported to our study group that ridership has fully recovered in Switzerland - it now *exceeds* 2019 levels. They explained, it's not because the Swiss didn't embrace remote work– a significant share of Swiss are still working from home many days, commuting less.

The solution to fix MRT Kajang is to fix all of the trains so they can run 15-20 trains/hour during rush hour instead of a measely 10 trains/hour.

Right now the ridership isn't growing because the trains are full. Fix that, and people would be more incentivized to use it.
