A super successful Discovery Day here at UofSC. Sarah won the RSC Excellence in Chemistry Certificate, Edgar won the Allen Award for Excellence in Chemistry, and Mai presented her work on sustainable gardening (performed while on hiatus from my lab)

And Sam Maloney's topic is 'Performance Bonus or Whimper? Individual Teacher Incentive Bonuses in North Carolina Public Schools', which was supervised by Orgül Öztürk and Saharnaz Babaei-Balderlou. Sam presented this project to the entire department faculty a few weeks ago!

Congratulations to Christopher Sutton! He has received a $285,000 award from the DOE / HFTO for his project 'Accelerated Discovery and Demonstration of Advanced Perovskites for Efficient Solar Thermochemical Hydrogen Production.'

Today we unveiled a monument honoring the first Black students admitted since Reconstruction — Robert Anderson, Henrie Monteith Treadwell and James Solomon Jr. — whose enrollment six decades ago changed the course of university history.
