Senate GOP argues Dem proposal to make a crime of making a threat of mass violence doesn’t go far enough, more work needed. Bill sponsor Sen. Todd Kaminsky said he’s sought the bill for years: “I’ll be damned if I’ll do nothing. It took two tragedies to make this happen.”

To the many who have sent prayers to my staff member Zeneta & her son Zaire following yesterday’s shooting in Buffalo - thank you. Those prayers have been answered. He is now home resting, & beginning the healing process. Please continue to pray for the families of those lost.

Tonight, a member of my staff, my extended family, is at ECMC when she should be at home. She’s sitting in a hospital waiting room, because her beautiful, extraordinary son was shot while he was simply doing his job.

Praying for the people of Buffalo. But when will we wake up and realize that it’s not ok to have a country where even a grocery store isn’t safe….and that allowing people to have high-powered rifles will consistently lead to unspeakable tragedy.

This budget is a victory for families & students in NY. We added 15K PreK seats, 4,300 of which are on LI, for the upcoming school year.
