How can Coalition & Labor govts not only stand by & watch the wholesale destruction of the Great Barrier Reef but actively lobby AGAINST listing it as 'in danger' AND keep subsidising & approving the fossil fuel projects that are killing it?

Reminder that Amazon and Space X are fighting in court to have the NLRB declared unconstitutional.

This means the two richest men on earth want to dismantle the government agency that holds them accountable for union busting.

Nothing terrifies them more than worker power.

Gladstone port, now dominated by dozens of coal and liquefied gas carriers, is “gateway to the southern Great Barrier Reef”.

Two more coal ports lie further north, shipping vast amounts of fossil fuels through the World Heritage Area every day, for as long as it’s profitable.

Yesterday the House of Reps passed HR 764, which would remove protections for gray wolves across the lower 48 states. The bill passed along party lines + sets a dangerous precedent - that species' status could be determined by Congress, not scientists.

Snake-necked turtles shared the world with dinosaurs 200 million years ago.

Now rescuers are in tears as they collect their bodies after wetlands dry up in record heat in Perth, & introduced foxes pick them off.

They are vital for lake biodiversity & water quality.

Could a Netherland’s zoo project rescue coral reefs?

My response: 'The world needs faster, bolder efforts to stop the damage from climate change... You can’t replace a magnificent ecosystem with an aquarium,”

An aging marine biologist inspects a giant old coral that’s fighting for its life due to anthropogenic heating.

Surrounding it are stands of recently dead and dying staghorn corals, for as far as the eye can see.

This is what mass-mortality looks like. theguardian.com/environment/20…

We all love desert tortoises, but if you ever encounter one in the wild, please leave it alone. If a tortoise is scared, it will void its bladder, potentially losing a year's worth of fluids that it needs to survive.
