Will Norman Artificial grass has the effect of retaining heat rather than absorbing it, creating an urban heat island effect, and contributing to global warming.

It is also harmful to biodiversity, and contains carcinogens that enter the water supply or are inhaled.

Last week a dog walker suffered severe facial injuries and was knocked unconscious after she was hit by a “speeding” cyclist overtaking a car at the same spot in Regents Park where a pensioner was struck and killed by a cyclist reaching speeds of 29mph in the 20mph zone in 2022.

.The Royal Parks confirm cyclists using any royal park are required “to observe the motor vehicle speed limits for the park”. 👏
Last year, my suggestion that cyclists in parks adhere to speed limits was ridiculed👇since then a pedestrian has been killed by a speeding cyclist.

Kelsey Trevett (they/them) NFBUK What is striking is the moral tone struck in some infrastructure conversations by those who profess to have the interests of the vulnerable in mind, but when it comes down to it, will defend car storage by local motorists even in Zones 1 and 2 of London, as a first principle.

Stats are needed on how many staff (inc. by gender) live within a reasonable cycling distance of their hospital workplace.

Many have been priced out of the area due to subsidies of car storage for affluent local car owners. Let’s campaign for lower car ownership and solve this.

Campaign speak: “research is still emerging.”
Reality described: “the projections we made on car use reduction & cycling increases did not happen.”

Kelsey Trevett (they/them) NFBUK It's easy to see the main problem is private car & Internet retail traffic.

The only question seems to be which group gets marginalised to accommodate this - cyclists or pedestrians & bus users, inc VIPs.

For sure unless we reduce car ownership in cities, it'll be one of those.

After advocates claim the death of a pensioner from a racing cyclist in Regent's Park was a once in a century event, another victim receives life-changing facial injuries at exactly the same spot.

And not one Walking representative either.

The truth of W&C commissioners being focused only on Cycling can be seen from Gilligan’s original title. That was always the job, for one person. Walking was only tagged on to leverage funding from Walking, for spending on Cycling.

When it comes down to it, most campaigners to remove bus user priority at bus stops care more about their own car ownership or retail convenience habits, than road user safety.

Would they agree to walk to local shops for goods if it could be empirically shown to reduce harm?

80%, of collisions injuring cyclists are at junctions, not bus stops. Any analysis will find buses are involved in a small fraction of cyclist fatalities. Being hit by a truck is the most likely followed by car.
