The good old 48hr pass. I note the suggestion that the recruits bring back any mates that fancy joining up. No protracted recruiting pipeline in those days with local Regiments recruiting in their traditional recruiting areas creating real family regiments. Sigh…….

The Air Battalion Royal Engineers (ABRE) was the first flying unit of the British Armed Forces to make use of heavier-than-air craft. Founded in 1911, the Bn in 1912 became part of the Royal Flying Corps, which in turn evolved into the Royal Air Force - ‘Follow the Sapper’ 👌🏻

Spent an evening of going through old photos with my Mum last night. My favourite was this one - never seen it before - me and my Dad in Celle in about 1977. Totally love this picture. We never took enough pictures in those days 💙💙
