70 years ago, declared racial segregation in public schools unconstitutional in Brown v. Board of Education.

We’ve come a long way since Jim Crow, but huge disparities in education remain. We must keep fighting to invest in Black youth & equal opportunity for all.

“Mercedes is a better place thanks to this campaign & these courageous workers,” says Shawn Fain, citing changes it made like eliminating tiers and replacing local CEO. “What happens next is up to them. Justice isn’t about just one vote or one campaign” bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Gigantically inspired by the Mercedes workers in Alabama who will continue to organize with the UAW until they win. Our movement understands how to learn from setbacks, and come back even stronger.

Mercedes workers didn’t win their union today.

But they won the 1st victory for justice when they decided to organize.

They won a raise for everyone at the plant by calling the vote.

And they’re not done winning.

“They fear Blacks & poor whites uniting together & forming a voting bloc that can fundamentally reshape the economic architecture,” Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II said about politicians fighting unions.

But the thing they fear is the greatest hope for democracy. nytimes.com/2024/05/16/bus…

On Monday, I spoke alongside workers who are employed at the Hyundai USA plant in Montgomery, Alabama. They are seeking to organize their workplace with the UAW.

I don’t know Rev Wilson, & I don’t know why he’s backing the union busters. But I do know this:

God is on the side of workers crying for justice.

I’m in AL standing with workers because I work for God.

I'm at a church tonight listening to Hyundai workers preach about being David, up against the Goliath of Hyundai and Alabama state leaders who don't want them to have the power to get a pension, to get health insurance, to have safe & consistent working conditions.

Whatever they say at church or on the campaign trail, the real pro-family folks in AL are the ones standing with workers who want a union to help them take care of their families.
