Collective bargaining is a right that helps employers and employees.

I’m concerned by reports that Boeing locked out IAFF I-66 members. I encourage folks to return to the table to secure a deal that benefits Boeing and gets these firefighters the pay and benefits they deserve.

Maybe some of those millions in exec bonuses could be used to retain the 10,000 staff positions at risk of being cut because of budget shortfalls, or maintain the salaries of low-level employees facing a pay cut because of downgrades.

Our veterans deserve nothing less than the best care we can provide, and that starts with making sure the VA has the staffing and resources it needs.

I thank the senators who are calling on their colleagues to hold the VA accountable for having the staff necessary to not only serve veterans but improve the quality and timeliness of the care they receive.

As a veteran myself, I understand how critical it is to ensure our VA health care facilities have the clinical staff they need to serve our veterans. The VA is facing tens of thousands of vacancies across the U.S., and employees say they need more staff.
