The ARUA DVCs held their first meeting of the year today. Amongst the many things discussed include strategies for instituting a collaborative PhD program to produce 1,000 PhDs annually for the next ten years.

Representatives from York University visited the ARUA office and had a fruitful discussion with the ARUA SG Ernest Aryeetey. They discussed potential ways to collaborate with the network and member universities through Student and Faculty Exchanges.

Over the next two days, the launch event of the #AfricaEuropeCoRE for Advanced Infectious Diseases Research and Training is taking place in Cape Town.

I have thanked the International Advisory Board and Prof. Sarah Ssali the Coordinator of the ARUA Centre of Excellence on Notions of Identity for a job well done. The Centre is training the next generation of researchers for Africa.
