New meta-analysis:

After weight loss, resting energy expenditure (calorie burn) down more on high- vs low-carb diet

👉About -25 kcal/d per 10% increase in carb

👉'our results align closely with those of Ludwig et al.'

👉'support the CHO–insulin model'

Mediocre Medicine:

How do you treat a headache?
Tylenol or Motrin

How do you treat insomnia?
Ambien

How do you treat a rash?
hydrocortisone cream

How do you treat depression?
Zoloft or Prozac

Mediocrity doesn't bother identifying or addressing the actual causes.

One additional example of clinicians breaking the Golden Rule.

After 3 years of teaching Bioethics, I am still convinced this is the most frequent, most relevant, and less talked about ethical problem in Clinical Medicine.

Problem closed.
1) Tail probabilities require >> samples. Only 2% (tail prob) doing 8h (w/uncertainty on classification, from 2d recall). Of these, only 31 had an event .0015 vs .0008!

2) Confounders: >> smokers in IF & >BMI. I guess a cigarette for breakfast may not help.

If you ask me, it’s better to bring 11 arrows and kill 11 than to bring only one arrow and say that you killed the “representative Uruk hai”.
