For the last two weeks I’ve had the honour to follow Alex and the Adrift Lab as they study the immense damage marine plastics are causing to flesh-footed shearwaters. I’ve cried so much, but met such amazing, driven people. My heart is broken, but full. Watch this space. ❤️
These beautiful, hard-working people are what matters. Each has a particular skill and role, but together we are better, stronger, more innovative. Everyone is equal, acknowledged and included #TeamWork #collaboration #AdriftLab
We followed last nights tagged #shearwater as it made a b-line for the beach. Here, he will make his first-ever flight, bound for the Sea of Japan. This epic 10,000+ km #migration (completed solo, never having seen the ocean before!) will take about a month

Lord Howe Island is a tiny dot in the Tasman Sea. It’s home to the largest colony of flesh-footed shearwaters in the world, many of whom are consuming huge volumes of marine plastic.
A breathtaking paradise affected by a growing global crisis.

Freedom!!! The beaches are covered in #shearwater chick footprints all heading in one direction. Over the next 2 weeks, they’ll wing their way across the Pacific Ocean, flying non-stop to the Sea of Japan 🪶🌏
