The Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem - a pillar of global faith since the 4th Century - calls on Christians worldwide to stop the illegal seizure of Jerusalem's #ArmenianQuarter .

All eyes are riveted to Gaza and to the Lebanese border. That's as it should be.

But the East Jerusalem settlers are using the fog of war to mask their takeover of a large portion of the Armenian Quarter.

The challenge to the character of Jerusalem is not unrelated to Gaza.

What Israel has embarked upon is not national defence but ‘ethnic cleansing’. Muslims and Christians are being systematically driven out of their homes, or killed in them, anywhere that the Israeli government is able to exercise control. When will our govt recognise this?

It has long been past the time for #Israel to pull back from its assault on #Gaza , but the killing of humanitarian aid workers is surely the last straw. I hope that Israel’s allies will now step up pressure on them to stop the violence and move towards a peaceful solution.

The idea that UK-made weapons might been used to kill any civilians is sickening. That three British aid workers are among them brings it into tragic focus.
