EU & US issued a joint statement on enhancing the security of radioactive sources, at the IAEA - International Atomic Energy Agency ⚛️ International Conference #ICONS2024 .

JRC scientists work with NNSA and EU Home Affairs to strengthen the security of radioactive material and prevent their criminal use.

Today’s Side Event on Global Nuclear Security at #ICONS2024 highlighted the dynamic cooperation between the #EU and IAEA - International Atomic Energy Agency ⚛️. With the recent EU Council decision, EU is boosting IAEA’s nuclear security efforts with an additional €7.2 million.

🇪🇺EU Day 2024 in The Hague, marking the long-standing EU political and financial support to the OPCW was celebrated at the OPCW HQ with presence of DG Fernando Arias.

We take very seriously reports on the alleged use of chemicals by Russian forces against Ukrainian soldiers. We urge Russia to provide clarifications at #OPCW , as requested by many countries. This is not the first time the world is alerted about use of chemical weapons by Russia.

April 2024 marks 20 years since the adoption of #UNSCR1540 - a vital tool in preventing proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery to non-state actors.

Since 2006, 🇪🇺EU has dedicated over 15 million EUR to support its implementation across the🌍
