Perjantaina Anni Pokela puhumassa ilmastopolitiikan paradigman muutoksesta Cambridge University. Nykyisillä keinoilla ilmastokatastrofia ei voi enää välttää. Tarvitaan uusia työkaluja päästövähennysten ja hiilensidonnan rinnalle.

Cameron David Spratt Anni Pokela We also argue MH could still be risk worth taking, bc some damages that could be only prevented with interventions are irreversible. As we've said, 'you can always keep pushing for GHG cuts, but once an ice sheet is gone, you cannot persuade it back on land'.

Cameron David Spratt Anni Pokela Climate Repair (CR) could strengthen sense of urgency, boosting co2 cuts.
CR could prevent crises, which turn focus from transition to day-to-day survival (and seeking remedy for economic chaos from excessive logging, FF digging, etc.)

Cameron David Spratt Anni Pokela Thanks Cameron for tuning in. I agree moral hazard is key issue, must be taken seriously. My take is it's used to refer to two bit different things:
1) interventions could lower public will for co2 cuts
2) interventions could be used as an excuse by FF industry and govs to emit

David Spratt Anton Keskinen Anni Pokela Thanks David. I agree we need to understand the technical potential and risks, but managing the moral hazard seems like a crucial part of this. Definitely on my reading list now.
