Read the whole thread but I want to amplify this point.

In my field we keep writing papers asking whether citizens know facts, whether they were exposed to misinfo, etc.

We must not forget about accountability: do politicians ever face unwanted questions? What if they opt out?

Newly updated WP🧵!

TLDR: Scarcity may worsen implicit/explicit biases & cause discriminatory rationing of resources.

E.g, we find that as hospitals reach capacity, Black patients die more, potentially bc providers rely less on medical need- and more on race- to guide decisions

.Amazon can you please explain why linking to the Southern Poverty Law Center's definition of 'three percenter' does not meet your community guidelines? I ordered this medical bag and it came with terrorist propaganda, and I thought other people who order it should know.

A recent study by LDI Fellow @a_schwa highlights the inconsistent use of prior authorization across five Advantage plans.

The study indicates clear disagreements among these plans about identifying low-value care. Read more on our blog:

I wish we lived in a world where we could fund clean streets without having to prove they had health consequences, but I'm continually in awe of Eugenia (Gina) South, MD MS for having taken what must have seemed like a truly out there idea and provided rigorous evidence that changed policy.

“Time based approaches could make a big difference in tracking not only how effective new disease-modifying drugs are, but also in helping Alzheimer’s patients and their families to better understand the progression of the disease and how they can plan for it.”

Check this out! Finding effective ways to engage specialty physicians in value reforms has been challenging. Let's keep the momentum going on this one: specialists and episode-based/bundled payment models.

The No Surprises Act was supposed to eliminate surprise bills & ↓ health care costs, on the assumption that prices emerging from arbitration would resemble prior in-network rates.

Yet in new analysis w/ Matt Fiedler, we find that arbitration decisions are coming in much higher

Stoked to launch registration and our call for abstracts for the 2024 in Health Care Symposium!

This year we’re thrilled to have two amazing keynotes - Leora Horwitz and Amy Bucher!

Last year we had over 220 attendees and had to cap registration. Don’t miss out!
