Woohoo! This year will be an extra-fun AirVenture! Can't wait to see what airplanes Air Force Test Center might decide to send. Maybe the X-62?

1949: The YF-94 Starfire first flew. Later, during May 1950, the F-94A reached operational service with Air Defense Command (ADC), its principal operator, and soon replaced the piston-engined North American F-82 Twin Mustang in the all-weather interceptor role.

Commentary: Eileen Bjorkman writes about the thousands of anonymous women who opened doors for others in medicine, law, and, in the case of her great aunt, aviation. 'The vast majority of these women’s stories will never be told,' Bjorkman writes.

Hard to believe this was 50 years ago. I was babysitting that night, and I insisted we watch the game, much to the chagrin of my charges. I’m glad I did—such a memorable moment by a stand up guy! npr.org/2024/04/08/124…

What do sewing machines & bicycles have to do with Lycoming Engines? A lot! The Lycoming factory was built in 1845 & originally made sewing machines & then high-end bicycles that sold for the equivalent of thousands of $$ today. A great story of adapting to evolving times!

I just happened to be touring the Lycoming factory today. Congrats to them for 95 years! I’ll post some photos from their museum in a bit. Lots of interesting history!
