The Kingfisher is an elegant diver, and with some of them moving towards coastal areas, this makes for some great fishing 🌊

#WinterWatch is showing us how adaptable this species is, from eating minnow in the Spring to Prawn in the Winter.

Kingfishers have excellent vision; they can see underwater and even correct for refraction, making them deadly hunters! 🐟

With practice, and close views, adult Kingfishers can be sexed on the basis of bill colour. Adult males have at least 2/3 of their lower bill black, while in adult females at least 2/3 of the lower bill is orange. Can you sex this bird BBC Springwatch? #Winterwatch

Kingfishers swallow fish whole, and then cough up the indigestible bones and skin as pellets.
