BOAC Monarch Service aboard a Comet 4 (c.1958)

Monarch was available on transatlantic flights only.

The cold poached salmon featured on menus a lot at that time.

Don’t fancy the dry-looking leg of grouse with what looks like a few Walkers Crisps and soggy-looking asparagusβ€¦πŸ˜

London Airport at the dawn of The Jet Age (1958).

All the pistons & turboprops give an idea of what a novelty the Comet must have been at the start.

A rocket-assisted Canberra pushes the world altitude record to 70,000 feet (1957).
