Ferdinand Levy, a Jamaican medical student in Dublin TCD in the 1930/40s wrote some fascinating poetry, long hidden and now revealed again! In his great Jamaican accent:

' I saw her walking
Down O’Connell Street—
Lord, Lord!—
Down O’Connell Street.'

The pub was also the site of the Army Mutiny, 1924, and was owned by Liam Devlin, the father of modernist poet and diplomat Denis Devlin who forged links between French surrealism and Irish literature - congratulations, John Healy
