NEW! Open #PhD position on how #cablebacteria influence sediment biogeochemistry. Come work with us at Aarhus University Department of Biology, Aarhus University as part of CEM, a Center of Excellence of Danmarks Grundforskningsfond Check it out👀 bio.au.dk/forskning/fors… Apply before May1st if you don't want to miss out!
Together with colleagues from Syddansk Universitet, Aarhus University, DTU and Københavns Uni, Lars Peter Nielsen shed light on seagrass in DK fjords! How it is important for marine biodiversity while not the solution for reducing CO2 altinget.dk/miljoe/artikel… #biodiversity #climate
Congratulations Jamie JamieLustermans to have attracted the prestigious MSCA postdoctoral grant! 🙌We wish you the best of luck on your future findings on #cablebacteria community processes 🔬 #marieskłodowskacurieactions #postdoc
We proudly announce that the 2 genera and 8 species of our beloved cable bacteria have been validated under the rules of the SeqCode, as proposed by our PhD Lea Emilie Plum-Jensen in her recently published paper doi.org/10.1016/j.syap…
Hurray for Electrothrix and Electronema!!

Today our 9 newest recruits are warming up for the annual CEM Retreat, this year taking place at Aarhus Universitet ‘s Marine Biological Station in northern Jutland. Looking marvelous in waders😊 lots of mud with #cablebacteria was collected following thorough examination in the lab 😅
We are strongly represented by Nikoline Madsen, Lea Emilie Plum-Jensen, Mads Lykke Justesen, Yonggang Yang, and Kartik Aiyer at the 10th meeting in the series Bacterial Electron Transfer Processes and their regulation, organised by EFB Biotechnology efbiotechnology.org/bacterial_elec…
Big congratulations to PhD Marta Sudo for defending her thesis! 🙌She uncovered ecological strategies employed by the interactions between hosts and microbes in sulphur-oxidizing symbioses in lucinids.🦪🦠Big congratulations on the huge achievement! 🦠👏 #Symbiosis #PhD
Plugging abandoned oil pipes effectively requires cutting the inner piping below the sediment surface, often a costly process.
In CEM, we're embarking on a 3-month project to investigate leveraging electro-microbial corrosion as a cost-effective solution DTUoffshore #innovation
Big congrats 💐🍾 to Bo Wang for succesfully defending his PhD today. We are so proud of you for already impressive contributions in the field of #electromicrobiology #electrometanogens #cablebacteria . We look forward for much collaborative #research work in the future 🧑🔬👩🔬🔬🦠
Don't just call a cable a cable!
In her first publication, PhD student Lea Emilie Plum-Jensen talks about how we obtained 3 new clonal cultures of cable bacteria, with two novel species added to the list.

🎉 Exciting news in the microbial world! 🌐 Cable bacteria, discovered in 2012 in Aarhus, is crowned 'Microbe of the Year 2024' by VAAM - Vereinigung f. Allg. u. Ang. Mikrobiologie! ⚡️ Here's to a year filled with scientific wonders and discoveries! 🥳🔬 #Microbiology #CableBacteria #HappyNewYear
Exciting news! RikkeMeyer, a long-term collaborator at Center for Electromicrobiology from iNANO - Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center, is awarded the Semper Ardens Accomplish grant by Carlsbergfondet. This allows Rikke to explore catalytic DNA structures in biofilm. Congrats on this well-deserved recognition!🌐🔬 #Biofilms
