Elections this week proved that those with a positive vision for improving the environment and reducing emissions were rewarded at the ballot box.

Congratulations to all the mayors elected including Sadiq Khan Ben Houchen and Tracy For Mayor 🌹 who have worked alongside me to promote a cross-party approach to net zero- improving our environment, delivering new jobs and regenerating regional economies #MissionZero

These elections have shown pro-environment parties and mayors who made net zero central to their campaigns made significant gains.

Reform have won 2 council seats out of 2500.

Time to recognise the net zero row back and kowtowing to an extreme fringe was a strategic disaster
