There was a house here, as shown in this 19thC Richard Relhan work, lost before major heritage funding was possible. But 17thC stables survive, where the Earl Godolphin later bred his Arabian horses, as do the ditches that formed a defensive ring dating as early as 3rdC BC. /3

My kids have run the ring, chased hares across fields, clambered over fallen trees, hidden in hollow trunks & among apple blossoms, walked & walked & learned to love nature & ancient ways here. Am so grateful to Cambridge Past, Present & Future for conserving this extraordinary space for us all. /2
