We'd really like to speak to someone in Northern Ireland who has received a demand to pay back Carer's Allowance because they inadvertently went over the weekly earnings cap. If this is you and you'd be happy to talk, please get in touch below or via [email protected].

Delivering a Carer's Allowance Recognition Payment would put £540 per year more in the pockets of people who rely on Carer's Allowance in Northern Ireland.

✍️ Sign our petition and tell Communities NI that this policy needs to be a priority: forms.office.com/Pages/Response…

Thanks to Sinéad McLaughlin MLA for raising Carers NI’s research on paid carer’s leave with Economy NI.

Our paper shows that paid leave could keep many more carers in employment, save £millions in welfare spending and retain even more in tax/NICs.

Important that the Covid Inquiry has started taking evidence in Northern Ireland from today. The pandemic had a profound impact on so many, not least our unpaid carers.

🧵 on the key points made in Carers NI's written submission to the Inquiry. 1/7

🚨 Today we've published a new paper which makes the case for including paid carer's leave in Economy NI's Employment Rights Bill and models the potential costings and economic benefits for Stormont and the UK Exchequer.

'The report outlines clear economic reasoning to bring this legislation forward but this is first and foremost about doing the right thing for carers.'

Thanks to Robbie Butler MLA for highlighting the enormous impact of loneliness on unpaid carers and the multi-faceted drivers of carer loneliness during yesterday's Assembly debate.

Greater access to respite and replacement care are critical to tackling loneliness among carers.

Yesterday we published a new paper on paid carer's leave in Northern Ireland. As well as supporting many more carers to stay in employment, our analysis found that the policy could save Stormont £millions p/year in social security payments.

Thankyou to all the MLAs who spoke in support of the motion today. The Assembly agreed we urgently need a cross-departmental, fully funded strategy to tackle loneliness.

We fully support Carers NI's call on Economy Minister Conor Murphy to include Paid Carer's Leave in the pending Employment Rights Bill. Young adult carers have told us that this would make a positive impact on maintaining employment whilst also managing crucial roles.

I am fully behind Carers NI call for paid Carers Leave.
We have low levels of productivity and high levels of economic inactivity- yet we put barriers in the way of those who do want to work. Paid Carers Leave is how we support those with caring responsibilities to stay in work

Thanks to Robbie Butler MLA for highlighting the disproportionate impact of loneliness on unpaid carers. Nearly 1 in 3 carers in Northern Ireland say they feel lonely always or often and issues like access to replacement care and financial strain are big drivers of that.

Many carers of stroke survivors have to change their working pattern or leave work altogether, which can leave them worried about finances. We are supporting this call for Economy Minister Conor Murphy to include paid carer's leave in his pending Employment Rights Bill.
