Cdn breast screening guideline update due this spring. Let's do the right thing 🇨🇦. If we ignore rising incidence, racial disparities, higher rates of advanced cancers in provinces that don't screen at 40, & risks to women w dense breasts lives will be lost. Mark Holland

This doesn't surprise me at all based on the amount of requests I get weekly to speak to newly diagnosed patients. This is extremely concerning and why we need earlier screenings. Mark Holland Ya'ara Saks יערה זקס Lisa Hepfner

Thank you to Anna Wilkinson for the marathon of interviews she did yesterday, getting the message out there that the CTFPHC | GECSSP guidance needs an overhaul for the safety of our patients.

Thank you, Marina von Stackelberg for this deeper dive into issues with CTFPHC | GECSSP

National & provincial level experts who understand nuances of disease and the benefits & harms of screening are being ignored. Patients are being diagnosed late.

Dr. Brian Goldman White Coat Black Art And if they had listened to your coverage, maybe my cancer wouldn't have been found so late. The inaction on this issue is leading to deaths and unnecessary suffering.

Canada has a systemic issue with how screening guidelines are developed & reviewed. Experts & patients have expressed concern. Medical associations pulled their endorsements, provinces are moving away to protect their citizens. Why is the Health Canada and PHAC not fixing CTFPHC | GECSSP ?

I have met with a variety of health care specialists and associations who have told me the same.

I hope that the issue of the task force, their people & processes- not just a single guideline-are scrutinized with the seriousness it deserves.

Lives are on the line.

Outdated guidelines putting lives at risk – Brandon Sun brandonsun.com/opinion/2024/0… via The Brandon Sun

Thanks for sharing your personal story, Deveryn Ross. While stats are critical to understanding disease, screening is not academic exercise. Those “numbers” are humans.

For those of you who have been following me for a while know how important this topic is to me. For my newer followers, please take a listen. This impending decision will affect any Canadian woman <50 at some point in her life.

It boggles my mind that governments don’t seem to want to catch it earlier, when it’s ⬇️ less costly to society. It also means keeping the patients in the workforce, where there isn’t enough talent to fill positions. It feels like we are simply shooting ourselves in the foot.

The older woman gets, the greater the risk of breast cancer. If she’s not ill with other diseases and could tolerate treatment, she should keep screening so we can find cancer early. The life expectancy for a healthy 80-year-old woman in Canada is 10 years.
