How will 🇨🇦 respond to the increase in breast cancer cases in younger women? Rising incidence was a key factor in the US decision to lower the screening age to 40. What do you say CTFPHC | GECSSP? Thank you Jean Seely, MD CTV News for this insightful segment. ctvnews.ca/video/c2911627…

Updated EUSOBI guidelines add screening US or MRI in average-risk women with dense breasts, MRI at least q4 years if extremely dense; endorse breast cancer risk assessment at age 25, as American College of Radiology. High-risk women annual MRI at 25, depending on risk. DenseBreast-Info.org

This is why weighting 40-60 yr old studies is just bad science.

Just because a study is an RCT doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a fundamental bias.

Thank you to Anna Wilkinson for the marathon of interviews she did yesterday, getting the message out there that the CTFPHC | GECSSP guidance needs an overhaul for the safety of our patients.

The CTFPHC | GECSSP guidelines affect people from children to adults, cancer and non-cancer screening. Everyone at some point may be affected by these non-expert recommendations that “go against logic and evidence” as urologist, Dr Fred Saad put it. Mark Holland

Thank you, Marina von Stackelberg for this deeper dive into issues with CTFPHC | GECSSP

National & provincial level experts who understand nuances of disease and the benefits & harms of screening are being ignored. Patients are being diagnosed late.

A pause was requested and granted because CTFPHC | GECSSP interfered w the scientific process and dictated to the evidence review team that antiquated studies be used. Nothing changed. Why did the USA focus on studies after 2016 and we’re stuck in the 60s? Mark Holland

And it’s not just cancers. Pediatric developmental delay, impaired vision, pregnancy/postpartum depression and hepatitis C screening are all similarly inexpertly handled by CTFPHC | GECSSP.

Outdated guidelines putting lives at risk – Brandon Sun brandonsun.com/opinion/2024/0… via The Brandon Sun

Thanks for sharing your personal story, Deveryn Ross. While stats are critical to understanding disease, screening is not academic exercise. Those “numbers” are humans.

RCTs from 60s,70s,80s and 90s are proof of concept that breast cancer screening works. BUT using them to determine screening benefit in 2024 makes no sense. Screening and treatment has evolved exponentially since these trials were done. youtu.be/pSjaqILkXho?si…
