My Ambassador, Rylie, spoke at #APPGChildren sharing the importance of youth voice: 'One of the strongest messages of #TheBigAmbition was that children understand the world yet only 22% of them agreed that they were listened to and what they had to say was taken into account'
Brilliant to have my Ambassadors join me today at #APPGChildren with National Children's Bureau to talk about #TheBigAmbition and the importance of listening to children. We spoke about the issues that matter to children and what the next government should do to improve the lives of children.
'Only 1 in 5 children feel listened to by those who run the country...but they have faith that if they were listened to, politicians could and would transform their lives' Great to speak at #APPGChildren sharing #TheBigAmbition with my Youth Ambassadors National Children's Bureau
Great to hear Children's Commissioner for England call for every political party to publish a manifesto for children! And fantastic contributions from her Ambassadors! #APPGChildren #ChildrenAtTheTable
Anna Feuchtwang Dame Dame Rachel de Souza Children's Commissioner for England is now speaking, surrounded by her Youth Ambassadors. “These Ambassadors are children and young people with completely different backgrounds, helping me take their issues to Government. We need the next Government to listen!”

“I think that the government should improve the school curriculum. Not enough children have the motivation, space or resources to do sport outside of school and it shows in both young people's mental and physical health[...]” – Girl, 13. #TheBigAmbition #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
This #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek is about movement for mental health. I recently held #TheBigAmbition roundtable with Youth Sport Trust emphasising the connection between children’s physical & mental health & how it impacts overall wellbeing & future success childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/news-and-blogs…

'Only one in five children feels listened to by those who run the country. As a former headteacher and teacher, this is really frustrating'

We’ve heard lots from school leaders about what they want from the next govt, but what about pupils?
Well Dame Rachel de Souza has been asking thousands of them. And here are the results 👇
Children today are socially aware and politically active, but #TheBigAmbition found only 22% feel heard by those power. Without the proper structures in place to consult with them, children will only ever be talked about, and not to.

'No-one is talking to them, no-one is telling them the truth. That needs to be a priority in learning the lessons from what happened.' Children told #TheBigAmbition about their desire to learn about the world of work. They're driven by their dream careers & want support to achieve their goals. They want PSHE lessons to equip them with the skills & knowledge they will need for adulthood.
