The whole point of PIP isn't that it's for disabled people who are out of work. It's for *all* disabled people, including those of us who are working. Because being disabled is very, very expensive.

The stated purpose of disability benefits is to compensate disabled people for the inevitable extra cost *of being disabled*. It's not intended to pay for medical treatment or routine living costs - we have the NHS and income-related benefits for that. 🧵theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

Some facts about #PIP

1. It is NOT an out-of-work benefit
2. The assessment & application process is hard. It is not 'easy to claim'
3. Only 40-45% of claims are successful
4. Getting the correct reward is difficult. Challenging it can take months.
