In Kenya, I visited Mawingu. A USTDA feasibility study grant is supporting their expansion of reliable and affordable connectivity for underserved rural communities in East Africa. I was inspired to see Mawingu’s pioneering vision in-person.

.USTDA’s study with Wilken Group will support their deployment of a fiber optic network and 5G-capable towers along Kenya’s meter gauge railway. This means greater connectivity for businesses and people living along a route that stretches from Malaba to Nairobi and Mombasa.

#AmChamSummit24 has inspired us to think about what East Africa’s future looks like, both as an economic partner with the United States and as a region that is defined by the innovation that it creates and deploys.
