Participated in a presser w/ Whitney/Strong & David Yates KY State Senate - 37 today about the lost opportunity to enact CARR in 2024, but also about the promise of forward motion and polling that clearly shows, for those unmoved by the merits of the policy, that the bill is good politics too.

In last ditch effort to push CARR (Crisis Aversion Rights Retention) gun bill, Whitney Westerfield and David Yates KY State Senate - 37 are appearing w/ mass shooting survivor Whitney Austin to release poll showing Republican primary voters in Kentucky support reasonable, gun safety legislation like CARR.

I checked out every Senate bill. Only 2 never received a Senate committee assignment: Hadley’s Law (abortion exceptions) and the C.R.O.W.N. Act (Black hair anti-discrimination)

Today in Frankfort. David Yates KY State Senate - 37 says he will try to force a vote on rape and incest exceptions to Ky’s abortion ban by filing a discharge petition.
Standing with him is Hadley Duvall, for whom Hadley’s Law (SB 99) is named.
“You deserve to know where they stand,” he says.

“If this bill would have had a hearing, I would have come here to testify,” Duvall says, telling her own story.
(SB 99 was not even assigned to a committee)
“There are other little girls in similar situations and they need options,” she says.

The Senate votes to concur with the House’s changes to Sen. David Yates KY State Senate - 37’s SB 45.

The bill now has gained final passage and now goes to the governor to be signed into law #kyga24

A few weeks ago I spoke with David Yates KY State Senate - 37 about SB45, the Ashanti Alert system, which would send our alerts for missing adults, similar to an amber alert.

SB48 would increase the theft aggregate timeline from 90 days to one year.

Both bills will move on to the House.
