DYK that immigrant men represent over 35% of the prime age male labor force in some states? 🤯 Don't deport them please.

Absolutely stunning. The city took away most of the roughly 38,500 Airbnbs, and used lower-cost hotels as migrant shelters (seemingly w no end in sight), and this is the result.

They're mad when they are coming illegally, but they're even madder when they come legally because they're harder to discriminate against, detain, and deport.

Even though Miami has accepted more immigrants under Biden than just about any other city on net, it isn't spending almost anything on housing them. You can just say, 'No.' Homeless chief takes ‘hard line’ on shelter for migrants in Miami

Iowa's law is largely a copy-paste of the 'illegal reentry' crime created in Texas' SB4. As David J. Bier wrote about that law, it would have made a criminal out of potentially thousands of legal immigrants who are fully in compliance with immigration law. cato.org/commentary/leg…

Obviously bad policy, but there's a theory out there that this guy's policies are based on getting votes... does this win him any votes?

Population, employment, hours worked, and output are all 1% to 2% higher than CBO thought they would be prior to the pandemic, while productivity is about 1% lower.

I'll stick with my mental model that attributes much of the surge to immigration, thank you very much.

Our immigration system is actually ~decent at allowing talented folks with a track record to work in the US.

A big hole is for young people whose great successes lie in the future. Ideally, we'd want to recruit people so they can do their cutting-edge work while in the US.
