The importance of Violence Reduction Councils is clear.

A project led by Cassandra Crifasi and Mallory O’Brien with funding from JHU American Health, will help empower communities to develop and implement Violence Reduction Councils through training and toolkits.

Washington had the 12th lowest rate of gun violence in the country in 2021.

However, guns remain the state's leading cause of death among children and teens ages 1-19.

An average of 2 people died from gun violence every day in Washington in 2021.

They also connected with incredible thought leaders from other universities, like Cassandra Crifasi from Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health PhD candidate Rachel Topazian.

Our team at the Center for Gun Violence Solutions, advocates from around the nation, and champions of gun violence prevention gathered last night to support our bold new vision to reduce gun violence by 30% by 2030.
