Check out all these great contributions in the new issue of Ecological Monographs!
Predicting extinction in networks
Theory linking social interactions to demography
Drivers of mosquito-borne parasite transmission
Ecosystem impact of restoring apex predators to food webs
And more!
New in Ecological Monographs: Between-group processes influence the dynamics of socially structured populations, affecting group sizes & ultimately #PopulationDynamics of social species

With #OpenData & code available at Zenodo
Brian Lerch
Super interesting theoretical paper by Brian Lerch linking social interactions to population dynamics
Published Ecological Monographs and guest edited by Dr. Leticia Avilés (huge thanks)
New paper out in Ecological Monographs with Karen Abbott on developing a flexible theory to understand the population dynamics of social animals! I’m extra proud of this one, which is something I've been interested in for nearly a decade. Highlights below: 1/10 esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…

just out in Ecological Monographs: doi.org/10.1002/ecm.16… expertly led by Chris Jones and Karo Wiesner. Better understand properties of ecological networks and predict secondary predictions based on analytical framework
New in Ecological Monographs: Over 40yrs, a population of Cliff Swallows shifted to more solitary foraging—suggesting that colony living may no longer offer the same fitness advantages

New in Ecological Monographs: Large herbivores often show #DensityDependent growth - but what exactly causes nutritional deficiency at high densities? A new model points to forage quality, not quantity

Last month I joined the Ecological Monographs editorial board as a Subject-Matter Editor, which is my first-ever editor role. I'm excited to see a new side of the publishing process and to do my part in a society (@ESA_org) journal handling manuscripts in community & network ecology 🤩
Update: Put Ecological Monographs Ecological Monographs on your list of society-owned biogeography journals: strong editorial board with disciplinary expertise (e.g. Barreto, Belmaker, Borregaard, Carmona, Hof, Leclerc, Lessard, ...) #BetterPublishing journalofbiogeographynews.org/2024/01/09/soc…
Lots of outstanding additions to the editorial board Ecological Monographs !!!

Stay tuned for more initiatives and opportunities coming up in 2024!
