Some years ago I came across the art of Hubert Duprat, a French artist that, in the 1980’s experimented with !

He raised larvae in aquariums full of gold, turquoise, opal, etc.,which the caddisfly used to build their cases.

Thread time!

I tried out polymer clay for the first time yesterday and made a male Eastern dobsonfly (Corydalus cornutus). Pleasantly surprised with the end result (see the real thing in the last image). I’ll paint it eventually but next up...some BEES!

A close up of the dung beetle sculpture crafted in wax & almost finished by artist Mairi Hunt before it begins the process of being reproduced in bronze via the lost-wax method. Amazing detail!

What do you do with plastic wrappers from chocolates you’ve been gifted?
Make some invertebrate stained glass windows, of course!
