Josh Ober and I were delighted to have the great Daron Acemoglu speak on the future of democracy at our seminar today. Still haven’t convinced him that this future needs a commitment to objective values, such as freedom and equality.
Oxford has been home to a diversity of approaches to moral philosophy. In addition to consequentialism, there is a humanistic strain, emphasising value pluralism, judgment and the role of our human nature. The Lyceum Project is in the latter tradition.
